The Hernia Cinic
Home arrow Surgery
Once you develop a hernia it is unlikely that it will get better. Over time the hernia will enlarge. Often hernias are asymptomatic but as they enlarge they can be the cause of aching and discomfort. Occasionally a hernia may become strangulated, that is it can protrude through the abdominal wall and and become stuck. This painful condition requires urgent surgical attention. There are several treatment options available ranging from conservative treatment with a truss to surgery under either local or general anaesthetic.
